Redirect checker
Check up to 20 URLs at once: the final status code, every hop in the redirect chain and where each one ends up. Add the expected targets to verify a migration in one go.
What to look for
- 301 for permanent moves. A 302 or 307 says the move is temporary, so search engines may keep the old address.
- One hop, not a chain. Every extra redirect slows the page and loses a little of the link value. Point old URLs straight at the final address.
- No 404s after a migration. Old URLs that now return 404 lose their rankings and the links pointing at them.
Questions
How do I check a site migration?
Paste the old URLs in the first box and the new URLs in the same order in the second. Each line shows OK when the old URL redirects to the expected new page with a working status.
Why does http:// redirect to https://?
That is normal and good. The checker shows it as one hop. Make sure it goes straight to the final https address in one step.
